New! 2012 Energy Efficiency Requirements for New Construction
New construction must conform to the enhanced energy efficiency requirements of Ontario’s Building Code. The new requirements apply to
all permits applied for after December 31, 2011

New! 2012 Occupancy and Energy Efficiency Requirements for New Construction
To assist in providing a snap shot of information regarding the 2012 New Construction Requirements for Energy Efficiency Changes and the New Residential Occupancy Permit, The Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing along with the Ontario Building Officials Association developed a pamphlet that explains the changes. New! 2012 Occupancy Requirements for New Residential Construction
Occupancy Permits are now a Building Code requirement for single detached, semi-detached and townhouse construction applied for after December 31, 2011. Occupancy Permit requirements do not apply to renovations or extensions of existing buildings. Please refer to the "Residential Occupancy Checklist" found below for a listing of all items that MUST be complete to obtain an Occupancy Permit.
