Welcome to our vibrant and growing municipality, a blend of rural and urban development set in the beautiful scenic area of the Grand and Irvine Rivers. The Elora Gorge cuts through the steep limestone cliffs offering a unique place to kayak, canoe, hike or just feast your eyes on the rugged beauty.
In 1999 the Village of Elora and the Town of Fergus amalgamated along with the Townships of Nichol, Pilkington, West Garafraxa and a portion of Eramosa forming the Township of Centre Wellington. Our current population is around 27,000.
Our urban centres contain a variety of industries and businesses and are surrounded by beautiful farming country. Our downtown areas in Elora and Fergus offer a wide array of boutiques and gift shops along with unique articles and pieces produced by local craftsmen and artisans.

Role of the Chief Administrative Officer
The Chief Administrative Officer reports directly to Council and is the head of administration for the Township. The C.A.O. is responsible for the overall general management of the organization and performs various duties as contained in a by-law passed by Council.
Through working with the Senior Management Team, the C.A.O. makes recommendations on policy matters to Council and ensures that policies, procedures and the directions of Council are communicated to, and acted upon, by staff.
The C.A.O's office is also responsible for all personnel policies, placements and issues.
The C.A.O's office is comprised of the Chief Administrative Officer and one executive secretary whose time is shared with the Mayor's office.
