The Ontario Regulation 397/11 requires all public agencies, including municipalities to prepare, publish and make available to the public the following:

  • A record of energy consumption and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions (to be updated annually);
  • An energy conservation and demand management plan

The Township of Centre Wellington has created a five-year Energy Conservation and Demand Plan as required by the Ontario Regulation, made under the Green Energy Act, 2009.  The purpose of the Green Energy Act is to expand renewable energy generation, encourage energy conservation and to promote the creation of clean energy jobs in the Province of Ontario.  Staff have formed an Energy Conservation Team consisting of representation from departments across the municipality.  Members of the team include

  • Supervisor, Aquatic Services
  • Engineering Technologist, Water/Wastewater
  • Supervisor, Accounting and Taxation Services
  • Supervisor, Facility Operations Community Services

The committee meets on a semi-annual basis to ensure the Township continues its measures for conserving energy, reducing energy consumption and managing energy demand.
