Parks & Recreation

Centre Wellington is home to many spacious and beautiful parks and it is the goal and responsibility of the Parks and Recreation Department to ensure that each of these parks is regularly upgraded and maintained.  As our Township continues to grow, the Department is continuing to develop new plans for park development, now and in the future.  However, although plans are being made to upgrade our parks system further, the Department never loses sight of the importance of a natural and environmentally sound environment not only for human purposes but for our wildlife as well.

All efforts are made to ensure that Centre Wellington parks and open spaces remain as naturalistic as possible.  Because of this, minimal reconstruction and landscaping of these areas is permitted.  By maintaining our parks natural state, we are demonstrating our commitment to preserving our wildlife's natural habitat and in turn, are providing a more educational and interesting park experience for visitors.  As well, the Parks and Recreation Department succeeds in lowering park maintenance and reconstruction costs.

Parks Recreation & Culture Master Plan

Final Master Plan for Parks, Recreation & Culture

Back in June of 2008 we sent invitations out to the community via letters,  emails, advertisements, and posters, asking individuals, groups, and organizations to provide input into the development of a new Parks, Recreation, & Culture Master Plan for the Township of Centre Wellington. Many groups and individuals took this opportunity to provide their input and we want to thank all who have taken the time to participate.

Our consulting team, Monteith Brown Planning Consultants and Tucker-Reid Associates, have worked diligently over the past number of months analyzing this input, researching parks, recreation, and culture trends, analyzing future demographics for Centre Wellington, developing an inventory of our current facilities and programs, and dialoguing with our Parks, Recreation & Culture Advisory Committee.

Through this work our consulting team has now finalized our Parks, Recreation & Culture Master Plan Master which will provide direction for decision making, policy development, and capital investment for the next ten years.

Thank you again for your time and participation in this process. If you have any questions please contact Andy Goldie at 519-843-2800 ext 23 or email at  agoldie@centrewellington.ca or Dorothy Smith at 519-843-2800 ext 22 or email at dsmith@centrewellington.ca
