Park & Sports field maintenance to resume

Posted On Wednesday April 29, 2020

CENTRE WELLINGTON – As weather improves over the next few weeks, staff will be resuming the maintenance of outdoor parks and sports fields.  This will include grass cutting, maintaining sports fields, and trimming in parks along pathways.

“We need to move forward with maintenance of our natural spaces in Centre Wellington” said Mayor Kelly Linton.  “Staff have taken necessary measures to ensure their safety during the pandemic.  By maintaining these spaces, we will have the ability to safely re-open them when it is deemed safe to do so.”

While completing the work, Township staff will maintain physical distance, and only one employee will occupy maintenance vehicles at a time.  The Township will continue to follow all guidelines from local, provincial and federal health officials to slow the spread of COVID-19, while maintaining these essential services.

We ask that residents continue to adhere to the provincial order that has closed all outdoor recreational amenities.  At this time, all Township playgrounds, sports fields, basketball and tennis courts, off-leash dog parks, skateparks, picnic areas, park shelters, and other outdoor recreational amenities are closed until further notice. Green spaces in parks and trails will remain open, but individuals must maintain the safe physical distance of at least two metres apart from others.

This is a rapidly evolving situation; discussions and decisions are ongoing. Any changes in operations will be communicated and posted to the Townships website at and on our social media platforms, and
