CENTRE WELLINGTON – As more and more local businesses continue to open, it’s important, now more than ever to continue supporting our local businesses.  That is why #SupportLocalCW continues to grow – and now there is even more incentive to shop local – with our latest contest!

The #SupportLocalCW contest is simple, shop at a local establishment, take your picture outside the store holding your purchase and post it on our Facebook page!  There will be two winners of $50 gift cards weekly.  The contest will begin Monday, July 13, on Facebook.  This contest would not be possible without the generous donation by the Rotary Club of Fergus-Elora, who generously donated $500 for the contest.

“We are so fortunate to have unique and amazing small businesses in Centre Wellington” said Mayor Linton.  “Now is the time to shop local and support these businesses.  It’s a win, win, you are supporting a local business, and get a chance to win a $50 gift card!  Thank you to the Rotary Club of Fergus-Elora for their donation toward the contest and for supporting our community.”

“The Fergus Elora Rotary Club is honoured to partner with the Township in encouraging you to Support Local.  For over 50 years, the members of this club have been proud to support our community as Centre Wellington has unwaveringly supported us and our many initiatives. Join Rotary, as we invite you to Support Local and help our community to continue to thrive!” John Campbell, Treasurer.

Beginning this weekend, St. Andrew St. in Fergus will re-open to vehicular traffic on Saturdays.  A partnership with the Fergus BIA will see Provost Lane close today, Friday July 9 and remain closed for the remainder of the summer.  An innovative street patio will be set up so that Downtown Fergus visitors can grab take-out from one of our amazing restaurants and enjoy an outdoor dining experience on Provost Lane.

In April, the Township and the Centre Wellington Chamber of Commerce partnered to launch www.shoplocalcw.ca a website that gives consumers the ability to go online purchase gift cards, then redeem those gift cards at a later time.  The site is still going strong and we encourage residents to continue shopping online on this site, to support our local businesses.

Follow us on Facebook, shop local and post your #SupportLocalCW photo for a chance to win!
