Outdoor Amenity Update

Posted On Friday May 15, 2020

CENTRE WELLINGTON – Yesterday, the Province released details on their framework to reopen the province.

The re-opening of tennis courts are identified in phase one.  Staff are in discussion and planning with the Tennis Club regarding the opening of the Tower Street Courts, and also considering how to safely open the CW Community Sportsplex tennis courts.   More information will be released next week on the specific dates for the opening of these facilities.

The Township will continue to release information on how phase one and future phases will impact municipal amenities as details are announced.

At this time, all Township playgrounds, sports fields, basketball, off-leash dog parks, skateparks, picnic areas, park shelters, and other outdoor recreational amenities will remain closed until further notice. We ask that residents continue to slow the spread of COVID-19 by staying close to home, and take the opportunity to venture outdoors as it remains essential for residents’ health and wellbeing.

Residents can continue to walk or bike through parks, green space, trails and pathways, but maintaining physical distance of two metres is required.   Please continue to wash or use hand sanitizer before eating or drinking, wash hands immediately upon returning home, avoid crowds at parks, trails and open spaces, avoid traveling to destination parks, trails and open spaces by car, and keep your dog on a leash at all times.

This is a rapidly evolving situation; discussions and decisions are ongoing. Any changes in operations will be communicated and posted to the Townships website at www.centrewellington.ca/emergencyplanning and on our social media platforms, www.facebook.com/CentreWellington and Twitter www.twitter.com/CentrWellington.
