Municipal Employment Lands

Municipally Owned Employment Lands Business Case

In an effort to assess the feasibility of municipally owned employment lands in Centre Wellington, the Township engaged Watson and Associates Economists Ltd to prepare a Municipal Development of Elora/Fergus Employment Areas - Business Case to guide decision making on this important issue. Designating additional lands for employment use is a Township priority as demand increases.

 

Available Employment Lands

 Located in the north-east area of Fergus, with easy access to Highway 6, the Fergus Industrial Park offers fully serviced lots for a wide range of industrial operations.  The Economic Development Team, as part of the Planning and Development department, works closely with local realtors, landowners and businesses to connect you with the location that is right for you and your business.

Business Improvement Areas (BIAs) represent groups of local business owners who promote economic development within their district. The Township of Centre Wellington has two BIAs.

Fergus BIA

The Fergus BIA represents over 180 businesses in downtown Fergus.

Chamber of Commerce +

The Centre Wellington Chamber of Commerce is a member-driven organization that:

  • Serves as a catalyst for business growth through networking and educational opportunities.
  • Acts as an ethical information resource for local commerce, business and professionals.
  • Promotes and advances local business, the community and the Chamber.

Downtown Wifi

Through the Township’s Tourism Strategy, ongoing partnerships with the downtown Business Improvement Area’s and Regional Tourism Organization 4 (RT04), it became apparent that this was a priority for our community.  By offering free WiFi to our residents and visitors, our story, will organically be shared and communicated through social media.  Access to maps, directions, finding a unique downtown store, restaurant hours and information about what to do in Centre Wellington will be much easier utilizing the free WiFi.  View our public WiFi location maps below.
