The Township has several E-Newsletters that you can subscribe to.  This is a great way to stay up-to-date about all of the fantastic things happening in Centre Wellington. 

 

On The Fly: Are you a Tourism Industry Partner? Receive periodic business to business information and emails. All you need to know about upcoming tourism partnerships, collaborative opportunities, stakeholder meetings and important announcements.

The Grand Fan: will help you find out about upcoming shows and buy your tickets from the comfort of home.

The Grand Clientele:  is a way to learn about what's happening around the theatre, pick up some insider tips and tricks to get more out of your events and join a dynamic, creative community of your fellow impresarios.

Recreation Run Down: will keep you up to date on Parks and Recreation news with our newsletters. Receive registration reminders, as well as program, parks, and facility news.

How It Works: will keep you current on road, water and sewer information.  It will educate you on seasonal and emergency news and events from the Infrastructure Department.
Frequency: Quarterly

The Corporate Report: will provide residents with an overview of the Township's Corporate goals and achievements on a broad range of activities. It will include updates of on-going projects, funding, events and services and will serve as an additional communication tool between the Chief Administrative Officer and residents.

Council and Committee of the Whole Meetings

Residents are welcome to attend Council and Committee of the Whole meetings, taking place in Council Chambers.  If you are not able to join us in person, we are now live streaming!  View our upcoming meeting dates or watch live.

Cannabis Legalization

The production, sale and use of recreational cannabis was legal in Canada on October 17, 2018. Cannabis is legal in Centre Wellington under the federal government’sCannabis Act, 2017.

In Ontario, the Cannabis, Smoke-Free Ontario and Road Safety Statute Law Amendment Act, (2017) governs production, distribution, sale , consumption and possession of cannabis including;

  • Where and when cannabis can and cannot be used
  • Recreational cannabis sales
  • How much you are permitted to carry
  • Rules for the workplace
  • Growing cannabis

On Monday, December 17, Council deliberated over either opting in or out of retail cannabis stores in Centre Wellington. After lengthy discussion, delegations made by the community, presentations by Scott Lawson, Wellington County OPP and Wellington Dufferin Guelph Public Health, Centre Wellington Council decided to opt out of Cannabis Retail stores in Centre Wellington.

Cannabis information

  • Adults 19 years and over can purchase up to 30 grams(g) (about one ounce) of cannabis online through the Ontario Cannabis Store
  • Adults can have 30 g of dried cannabis in their possession
  • Cannabis can be used by adults in a private home or on private property and in places where it is legal to smoke tobacco
  • Condominiums/apartments can have their own rules around cannabis use/growth
  • Adults can grow up to four plants per household in their residence or in their outdoor space
  • Like tobacco, the use of cannabis is not permitted in publicly owned spaces such as, parks, playgrounds and sports facilities
  • Cannabis use is not permitted in vehicles and boats that are being driven or under a person's care or control
  • Children under the age of 19 cannot buy, use, possess or grow cannabis
  • An unlicensed individual or corporation cannot sell or distribute cannabis
  • Travelling outside of Canada with cannabis is not permitted
  • You cannot drive while impaired from cannabis
  • Advertising cannabis in public is not permitted
