Aquatic Centre

The Aquatic Centre has a 25-metre lane pool with six swimming lanes.  The temperature is regulated at approximately 27 degrees.  The leisure pool with a water slide, water jet sprays and water umbrella for children doubles for therapy and rehabilitation classes.  The temperature is regulated at approximately 33 degrees.  A whirlpool with seating for twelve people is available during lane swims, adult leisure, public, family swims as well as after aquafit classes.  The temperature is regulated at approximately 37 degrees.  There is a viewing gallery adjacent to the leisure pool.  We have family, men's and women's change rooms available. 

Aquatic Centre User Guide 

The Aquatic Centre is closed on August 13 and 14 for the Fergus Scottish Festival and Highland Games. 

 

Important Notes for Aquatic Programs:  In order to serve you better, participants are required to pre-register for all swims online.  If you need assistance registering please call 519 846-9691 ext.903. A self service registration kiosk is available at the Centre Wellington Sportsplex. Staff can provide assistance with the registration process during office hours. 

  • Registration will open one week prior to the date of the swim
  • Spaces are first come, first served
  • Pool capacities have been reduced 
  • The whirlpool is not open
  • For recreational swims, we encourage you to bring your own equipment, but equipment is available for your use.
  • For aquafit classes, we will provide the aquafit belts or you can bring your own  

What to expect when you arrive:

  • Patrons are required to check in with reception staff 
  • Please arrive 5-10 minutes before your scheduled program
  • Change rooms are available
  • Showers are open for use when entering and exiting the pool. Please shower prior to your swim.
  • Lockers are open

 Admission Policy

Children Under the Age of Ten
  • Must be accompanied in the water by a caregiver who is 12 years of age or older and responsible for their direct supervision
  • A caregiver may provide direct supervision for up to a maximum of two children.

Children Aged Six to Nine
  • May swim unaccompanied providing they pass the swim test
  • A caregiver must be present for the swim test and as long as they are in the pool area
  • A caregiver may provide direct supervision for up to a maximum of four children
  • Life jackets must be worn by all non-swimmers

Swim Test Criteria
  • Tread water for 20 seconds
  • Front swim 10 metres
  • Tread water for 20 seconds
  • Front swim for 15 metres
  • Must make an attempt at an over arm recovery (or front crawl) with a near body flat in the water

 

Swim Test Cards
  • If you successfully complete the swim test, you will receive "Swim Test Card"
  • Present this card when you come to the pool and you will be given a green wristband without having to re-take the swim test
  • If you forget the "Swim Test Card', you will be required to complete the swim test again

You must be able to always complete the swim test. If your skills regress and you are unable to complete the swim test in the future your card will be revoked.

The holiday schedule is in effect for Canada Day (July 1) and Civic Holiday (August 1).  Please see the weekend schedule (Saturday and Sunday). 

 

General Aquafit - Use the resistance of water to assist in a quality low impact workout.  The option of deep water aquafit will be made available to those interested in it.

Leisure Pool Rehabilitation Aquafit - These classes assist with recovery, increase flexibility and range of motion much faster and with less stress on the body than a typical post rehabilitation exercise class.  These classes are taught in our warm leisure pool. 

Leisure Pool Movement Enhancement - These classes are geared to participants with arthritis and other mobility challenges.  Participants should expect to be taught a variety of range of motion exercises to help maintain and improve mobility and flexibility.  These classes are taught in our warm leisure pool.

Parent and Tot/Leisure Pool Swim - Adults, seniors and children are welcome.  Any caregiver volunteering their time to help a person with special needs is admitted free (1 caregiver per person).

Lane Swim - The main pool is open for swimmers of any age to swim lengths. 

Public Swim - Come enjoy time in the pool.  All the pools are open.  A lane will be designated for those wanting to swim lengths. The slide will close at 2:30pm Monday to Friday and at 3:00pm on Saturday and Sunday.   

Adult Leisure Main Pool Swim - Adults can come to enjoy 'unstructured' swimming in the main pool. 

 

Admission Policy is in effect for all swims. 

 

*Please note:  If you wish to swim lengths during the Adult Leisure Swim, you will be required to register for the Lane Swim at the above noted times instead of the Adult Leisure Swim.  The Adult Leisure Swim allows participants to enjoy an unstructured swim in the main pool.

 Pool Rental

We are once again offering private pool rentals.

 

The Rotary Aquatic Centre features a 25-metre lane pool, a warm leisure pool and a whirlpool. The Aquatic Centre can be rented for family gatherings, birthday parties, swim meets and other special events. Family gatherings are typically booked on Saturday and Sunday afternoons.  Please call 519-846-9691 ext. 321 if you would like more information on renting the Aquatic Centre for your next special occasion. 

 Program Registration

You can register for leisure programs within the Township of Centre Wellington, by one of the following convenient ways:

  1. In person at the Centre Wellington Sportsplex located at 550 Belsyde Avenue in Fergus
  2. Register Online (see further instructions below)
  3. By mail.  Make your cheque payable to: Township of Centre Wellington PO Box 58, Elora, ON  N0B 1S0

If you have an account already, simply select login, input your email address and click on forget password.  A temporary password will be sent to the email address you provided. You will then be prompted to create a permanent password.

If you DO NOT have an account, select create an account. Follow the prompts to create an account. Do not create an account if you have filled out a Registration Information Form or recently given your information to a Customer Service Representative.

You can register for activities, purchase/renew memberships, look up past courses as well as print receipts from your online account, register online now.

Classes with low enrolment will be cancelled approximately 1 week before programs start. Register early to avoid having the program you want cancelled. 

 

Refunds:

  1. A full refund will be issued for all courses cancelled by the Township
  2. Request for refunds must be received 1 week prior to program start date
  3. No refunds will be issued within 1 week of the program start date
  4. Transfers will be accepted prior to the 3rd class.  No transfers will take place beyond the 3rd class.
  5. A $20 administration fee will be applied to refunds requested 
  6. A $35 fee will be applied to NSF cheques and credit card payments 

 

Spring Swimming Lessons

      

The Township of Centre Wellington offers a variety of swimming lessons for swimmers of all ages and abilities, from introductory classes to Lifeguard and Instructor training.

 

The following swim programs are available:

  • Learn to Swim Programs for preschool and ages 5 -13.  View our swim levels and prices here. 
  • Private Lessons.  If you wish to change your private to a semi private or group lesson, please book the day and time with one participant, then give us a call at 519 846-9691 ext. 903 to register the additional participants.  Payment is required at time of registration. A further discount will be given for additional participants.  Private lessons $212.95, semi private $144.35.

Participants in all Preschool levels and Swim Kids 1 and 2 are required to have a parent or caregiver (14 years and older) in the water with them for physical contact and safety purposes

 

  • Each swim session consist of nine lessons 
  • Group lessons are available for all swimming levels
    • Pre school levels Starfish - Sea Turtle: (class size maximum is limited to 8 swimmers and 8 guardians)
    • Pre school levels Otter - Whale:  (class capacity is 4 swimmers and 4 guardians)
    • Swim Kids levels 1-2: (class capacity is 6 swimmers and 6 guardians)
    • Swim Kids levels 3-4: (class capacity is 6 swimmers) 
    • Swim Kids levels 5 - 10: (class capacity is 8 swimmers)
  • Private lessons (or lessons to a family "bubble") are available for all levels. 
  • Registration is available online for all lessons (Including private lessons). If you are registering more than 1 participant in a private lesson please contact our reception staff at the Sportsplex to add the additional participants (519.846.9691 ext 903)
  • All lessons will be taught at a distance by qualified instructors to allow participants and staff to maintain a physical distance from others
  • Participants in Preschool levels up to level 2 are required to have a parent or caregiver (14 years and older) in the water with them for physical contact and safety purposes
  • Limited equipment will be used and will be sanitized between each use 

 

 

 Summer Swimming Lessons 

 Summer Swimming Lesson Registration is now open.

 

This summer we will be offering daily lessons, weekly lessons and twice weekly lessons. Further information on formatting can be found in our Summer Swimming Lesson Schedule. 

 

  • Group lessons are available for all swimming levels
    • Pre school levels Starfish - Sea Turtle: (class capacity is 8 swimmers and 8 guardians)
    • Pre school levels Otter - Whale:  (class capacity is 5 swimmers)
