Centre Wellington Business Park Phase 1- Earthworks
|
- The Township of Centre Wellington owns property east of the existing limit of Dickson Drive in Fergus. To facilitate development of these employment lands, the Township is proposing to extend Dickson Drive and the existing municipal services.
- The proposed works will provide access to municipally serviced industrial, commercial and/or institutional employment lands and a multi-use path within the Centre Wellington Business Park in Fergus, to allow for continued economic growth and promote a live/work opportunity for the Township.
- The first phase of servicing works will be to complete earthworks to prepare the site for development.
- Earthworks are expected to begin in the Summer of 2022 and continue through to December 2022.

Centre Wellington Business Park Phase 2- Servicing
|
- The Township of Centre Wellington is extending a watermain on First Line, Elora from Bridge Street westwards to development lands located east of the intersection of First Line and Wellington Road 7.
- The watermain extensions is needed to service future employment lands located in this area.
- Construction is expected to begin in Summer 2022 and continue through to December 2022.
- First Line is planned to remain open during construction with some minor traffic disruptions.

Fergus Well F7 Iron Filter Installation

Garafraxa Street West, Fergus- Extension of Watermain and Sanitary Sewer
|
- The Township of Centre Wellington is extending the watermain and sanitary sewer on Garafraxa Street West between Maiden Lane and Beatty Line North in Fergus. Construction includes the following
- Extension of approximately 30m of watermain and sanitary sewer to service a vacant lot for future development;
- Road restoration complete with new asphalt.
- Construction is expected to begin on May 2, 2022 and will continue through to early June 2022. Garafraxa Street West will be closed to through traffic during construction and local access may also be interrupted at various times during this period.
- The contractor for this project is Wyndale Paving, Brampton, ON.

New Well Exploration Program- Drilling and Testing 2022-2023
|
- The combined Fergus and Elora Water Supply system currently consists of six wells in Fergus and three wells in Elora. As outlined in the Township's 2019 Water Supply Master Plan, additional groundwater well sites are needed to supplement existing water supply capacity and accommodate population and employment growth to the 2041 timeframe.
- In accordance with the recommendations of the Water Supply Masterplan, the Township is assessing the feasibility of developing new groundwater supply sources in four target areas, These target areas are referred to as Areas 3, 5,7 and 8.
- The Township's project team has designed a test well drilling program in these areas to assess the feasibility of locating future municipal production wells.
- The drilling and testing work will begin in June 2022 and continue through to 2023.

Replacement of Wells F2 and F5- Fergus
|
The Township will be replacing two municipal productions wells located in Fergus. The existing wells are being replaced with new wells to optimize the amount of water that can be supplied from these locations.
- Well F2 is located at 449 St. Andrew Street East, between Herrick Street North and Gartshore Street.
- Well F5 is located at 900 Scotland Street, near the intersection of Scotland Street and McQueen Boulevard.
New monitoring wells used to collect measurements in the groundwater aquifer that supplies the Township’s drinking water will also be drilled as part of this work.
- A grouping of three monitoring wells will be installed on the boulevard at the northeast corner of the intersection of St. Andrew Street and Cameron Street.
- A monitoring well will be installed at the Township’s Water Services property located at 295 Queen Street East.
Drilling work will begin in late July 2021 and continue until July 2022.
- During this time, the contractor will be moving between the various sites with a truck-mounted drill rig to install the wells and perform testing.
- The drilling work is not anticipated to result in any road closures.

Reconstruction of St. George Street East, Fergus- Herrick Street to Gartshore Street
|
- The Township of Centre Wellington is reconstructing St. George Street East in Fergus from Herrick Street to Gartshore Street.
- The project consists of the replacement of the existing watermain and sanitary sewer, improving road drainage by installing curb and gutters with storm sewers, new asphalt surface and the addition of a new sidewalk.
- Construction is expected to begin July 2022 and will continue through to December 2022.
- The contractor for this project is Steed and Evans Limited, St. Jacobs, ON.

Washington Street, Salem- Bridge Retaining Wall Replacement
|
- The Township of Centre Wellington is proceeding with the replacement of an existing retaining wall at the Washington Street Bridge in Salem (12-N). The replacement wall will ensure that William Street is properly stabilized and will not erode at the bridge site.
- Construction is to commence May 2022 and will be completed by June 2022. This project will not affect area vehicle traffic. Bridge will be closed to pedestrians during the construction period.
