Winter Parking

The Township actively enforces the Parking By-laws and Winter Parking Ban to ensure order and safety for vehicles, pedestrians, and residents. The Winter Parking Ban prohibits parking on streets from November 1 to March 31, during the hours of 2:00 AM and 6:00 AM. Vehicles parked on the road may be ticketed and/or towed at the owner's expense.

Vehicles parked on the street can delay or prevent effective snow-clearing operations. Snow plow operators try to plow all streets back to the curb, but any road obstruction, such as a parked vehicle, makes this impossible and potentially dangerous.

The Township of Centre Wellington Parking By-law states:

  • No person shall park a vehicle upon a highway in such a manner as to interfere with the movement of traffic or the clearing of snow from the highway.
  • No person shall park a vehicle upon a highway or on a municipal parking lot between the hours of 2 am and 6 am of any day during the months of November, December, January, February and March of any year.

Snow pickup and removal is sometimes required when there has been a significant accumulation of snow downtown. During a snow pickup and removal operation, trucks collect and remove snow from boulevards.

Temporary signs will tell motorists that snow removal operations will be occurring and that parking is temporarily unavailable.
