Training |
Firefighters are required, by the Ontario Ministry of Labour to train frequently as they often work in hazardous areas where there is a greater risk of injury or accidents to themselves or to the public. Recruits receive approximately 120 hours of training before they are able to respond to emergencies. Elora station firefighters train on Monday nights from 7 to 9 p.m. taking the last Monday of every month off of training to attend Fire Department and Association meetings. Fergus station firefighters train on Wednesday nights from 7 to 9 p.m. with the last Wednesday of every month off. Fire Department and Association meetings take place after 9 p.m. on regular training nights. Daytime training sessions occur weekly on Thursdays for both stations to accommodate those unable to attend the evening sessions. Firefighters respond to:
