Thinking of running for Council?
To run for the office of Mayor, Councillor, or School Board Trustee for the 2026 Municipal Election, you must file nomination papers before the deadline on Friday, August 21, at 2:00 PM.
All nominations must be filed in person or by an agent acting on behalf of the nominee at the Township Municipal Office, Legislative Services, 1 MacDonald Square, Elora.
Centre Wellington's Inclusive Community Program brings together several recognition opportunities into one simple application process, making it easier for community organizations and groups to celebrate the people, cultures, histories, events, and causes that strengthen our community.
Whether you're recognizing an important awareness day, celebrating a cultural tradition, highlighting a community milestone, or promoting an event that fosters inclusion and belonging, the program provides a clear and consistent pathway to request Township recognition.
Choose one recognition option or combine several through a single
application. Requests are reviewed to help ensure recognition is
welcoming, accessible, locally meaningful, and possible to deliver.
Recognition requests will be accepted from July 15 to October 15, 2026.

All recognition requests use one application form. After you apply, Township staff will review your request and contact you if more information is needed.
Choose one or more recognition options through the same form.
Select a flag, illumination, digital display, calendar listing, or a combination.
Provide the requested date, recognition type, and supporting information.
Staff review eligibility, timing, availability, suitability, and operational needs.
You’ll receive a response confirming next steps or requesting changes.
Provide any approved flag, images, wording, or links by the stated deadline.
The approved recognition is scheduled through the confirmed Township channel.

The purpose of the program is to support public recognition that promotes inclusion, education, respect, and belonging in Centre Wellington.
These recognition opportunities help raise awareness, support community education, and celebrate the people, histories, cultures, and causes that contribute to a more inclusive Centre Wellington.
Recognition requests may be submitted by local non-profits, charities, Indigenous communities, cultural organizations, or community organizations with a demonstrated connection to Centre Wellington.
Requests should have a clear community, cultural, educational, commemorative, equity, accessibility, reconciliation, or inclusion-related purpose.
What the Program Does Not Support
The Township may decline requests that:
Each request is reviewed for alignment with the program purpose, eligibility, scheduling, feasibility, and communications needs.
Recognition Is Subject to Availability
Submitting a request does not guarantee approval. Some requests may be approved as submitted, approved with modifications, redirected to a different recognition option, or declined.
The Township will make reasonable efforts to support eligible requests where possible.
Recognition requests are submitted through the Township’s Inclusive Community Program application form.
One application form is used for all recognition requests.
Applicants may request one component or a combination of components through the same form.
The application window for 2027 is July 15th through October 15th, 2026.
