Inclusive Community Program

The Inclusive Community Program provides a clear way for community organizations and groups to request public recognition through the Township of Centre Wellington.

Requests may be connected to cultural recognition, heritage months, awareness campaigns, accessibility, reconciliation, equity-deserving communities, human rights, anti-discrimination, or community well-being.

Through one application form, eligible requests may be considered for one or more of the following:
  • Community Flag Display
  • Township Illumination
  • Digital Public Display
  • Community Recognition Calendar
The program helps the Township recognize important dates, histories, communities, and causes in a consistent, fair, and accessible way.

The application window for 2027 is July 1st through October 31st, 2026.

How Recognition Requests Work

All recognition requests use one application form. After you apply, Township staff will review your request and follow up if more information is needed.

1

Choose Your Recognition Option

Decide whether you are requesting a flag display, illumination, digital public display, calendar listing, or a combination of options.

2

Submit One Application

Complete the Inclusive Community Program application form with your requested date, recognition type, and supporting information.

3

Township Review

Staff review your request based on eligibility, scheduling, availability, public suitability, and operational requirements.

4

Confirmation or Follow-Up

You will receive a response confirming whether the request can move forward, whether changes are needed, or whether another recognition option may be more appropriate.

5

Prepare Required Materials

If your request is approved, you may need to provide materials such as a flag, digital display content, image files, wording, or supporting links by the required deadline.

6

Recognition Takes Place

Once approved and scheduled, the recognition will take place through the confirmed Township channel, such as a flag display, illumination, digital screen, or calendar listing.

Learn more about the Inclusive Community Program

The purpose of the program is to support public recognition that promotes inclusion, education, respect, and belonging in Centre Wellington.

These recognition opportunities help raise awareness, support community education, and celebrate the people, histories, cultures, and causes that contribute to a more inclusive Centre Wellington.

Recognition requests may be submitted by local non-profits, charities, Indigenous communities, cultural organizations, or community organizations with a demonstrated connection to Centre Wellington.

Requests should have a clear community, cultural, educational, commemorative, equity, accessibility, reconciliation, or inclusion-related purpose.

The Township may decline requests that:

  • promote hatred, discrimination, harassment, or violence
  • conflict with Township policies, values, or legal obligations
  • are commercial or advertising-based
  • are partisan political in nature
  • are primarily religious promotion rather than cultural, educational, or community recognition
  • include content that is inappropriate for a public municipal setting
  • cannot be supported because of scheduling, staffing, technical, or operational limits

Each request is reviewed for alignment with the program purpose, eligibility, scheduling, feasibility, and communications needs.

Recognition Is Subject to Availability

Submitting a request does not guarantee approval. Some requests may be approved as submitted, approved with modifications, redirected to a different recognition option, or declined.

The Township will make reasonable efforts to support eligible requests where possible.

Recognition requests are submitted through the Township’s Inclusive Community Program application form.

One application form is used for all recognition requests.

Applicants may request one component or a combination of components through the same form.

The application window for 2027 is July 1st through October 31st, 2026.
