This session, Balance and Respect: The Haudenosaunee Way, offered participants a meaningful opportunity to explore Haudenosaunee worldviews, teachings, and approaches to balance, governance, and community well-being.

Through guided teaching, storytelling, and thoughtful reflection, attendees deepened their understanding of Indigenous knowledge systems and strengthened their ability to engage respectfully with Indigenous histories and communities. The session welcomed municipal staff, elected officials, advisory committee members, volunteers, community partners, residents, and sports organizations—truly all ages and backgrounds.

We are grateful to Kevin Sandy for sharing his story and insights, and to Indigenous artist Kory Parkin for creating the artwork that enriched this series.

This learning session is just one step in the Township’s commitment to reconciliation, inclusive public spaces, and stronger community relationships.
