Residents Invited to Provide Input on the Revitalization of Confederation Park in Fergus

The Township is embarking on an exciting project to reimagine and revitalize Confederation Park in Fergus, a beloved passive park space that offers beautiful views of the Grand River, walking trails, picnic areas, and river access for fishing, all conveniently located near downtown Fergus.

To help guide this transformation, the Township is developing a comprehensive plan that will:

  • Enhance park amenities and user experience
  • Improve accessibility for all visitors
  • Optimize functionality and connectivity
  • Preserve the park’s natural environment

The project will include community engagement to gather input on priorities and ideas. Some of the community-suggested considerations received through the recently approved Parks and Recreation Plan include improving trail connections to downtown Fergus and nearby trails, creating inclusive gathering spaces, adding interpretive historical signage, enhancing accessibility, and introducing family-friendly activities and lighting improvements.

Mayor Shawn Watters said, “Confederation Park is a treasured community space, and we’re committed to making it even better for everyone to enjoy. We look forward to hearing from residents as we plan its future.”

The Confederation Park revitalization survey is now open! We invite you to share your thoughts and ideas to help shape the future of this cherished community space.
