Aquatics

The Aquatic Centre has a 25-metre long pool with six swimming lanes. The temperature is regulated at approximately 27 degrees. The leisure pool with a water slide, water jet sprays and water umbrella for children doubles for therapy and rehabilitation classes. The temperature is regulated at approximately 33 degrees. A whirlpool with seating for twelve people is available during select times. The temperature is regulated at approximately 37 degrees. There is a viewing gallery adjacent to the leisure pool. We have family, men's and women's change rooms available.

 Important Notes for Aquatic Programs: Pre-registration is highly recommended to ensure your spot in the program. If you need assistance registering please call 519 846-9691 ext.903 (option 0).  A self service registration kiosk is available at the Centre Wellington Sportsplex. Staff can provide assistance with the registration process during office hours. 

Aquatic Programs Registration

  • Registration will open one week prior to the date of the swim.
  • Spaces are first come, first served.
  • For recreational swims, we encourage you to bring your own equipment, but equipment is available for your use.
  • For aquafit classes, we will provide the aquafit belts or you can bring your own.

What to Expect When You Arrive

  • Patrons are required to check in with reception staff 
  • Please arrive 5-10 minutes before your scheduled program
  • Change rooms are available
  • Showers are open for use when entering and exiting the pool. Please shower prior to your swim.
  • Lockers are open (please bring your own lock).

Children Under the Age of Ten

  • Must be accompanied in the water by a caregiver who is 12 years of age or older and responsible for their direct supervision
  • A caregiver may provide direct supervision for up to a maximum of two children.

Children Aged Six to Nine

  • May swim unaccompanied providing they pass the swim test
  • A caregiver must be present for the swim test and as long as they are in the pool area
  • A caregiver may provide direct supervision for up to a maximum of four children as long as Life jackets are worn by all non-swimmers

Swim Test Criteria

  • Tread water for 20 seconds
  • Front swim 10 metres
  • Tread water for 20 seconds
  • Front swim for 15 metres
  • Must make an attempt at an over arm recovery (or front crawl) with a near body flat in the water

Swim Test Cards

  • If you successfully complete the swim test, you will receive "Swim Test Card"
  • Present this card when you come to the pool and you will be given a green wristband without having to re-take the swim test
  • If you forget the "Swim Test Card', you will be required to complete the swim test again

You must be able to always complete the swim test. If your skills regress and you are unable to complete the swim test in the future your card will be revoked.

General Aquafit

Use the resistance of water to assist in a quality low impact workout.  The option of deep water aquafit will be made available to those interested in it.

Leisure Pool Rehabilitation Aquafit

These classes assist with recovery, increase flexibility and range of motion much faster and with less stress on the body than a typical post rehabilitation exercise class.  These classes are taught in our warm leisure pool. 

Leisure Pool Movement Enhancement 

These classes are geared to participants with arthritis and other mobility challenges.  Participants should expect to be taught a variety of range of motion exercises to help maintain and improve mobility and flexibility.  These classes are taught in our warm leisure pool. 

The Township of Centre Wellington offers a number of aquatic advanced leadership courses throughout the year. We will update this site as we confirm dates for the following programs.

If you are considering becoming an aquatic staff member in the future we highly recommend volunteering in our learn to swim programs. Volunteering provides an opportunity to gain hands on experience teaching in our learn to swim program. Volunteers are required to participate in our free Aquatic Volunteer clinic and must have a minimum of their Bronze Medallion Certification.

The Admission Policy is in effect for all swims. 

Parent and Tot/Leisure Pool Swim

Adults, seniors and children are welcome.  Any caregiver volunteering their time to help a person with special needs is admitted free (1 caregiver per person). We strongly recommend participants pre-register for this program as we often reach capacity in these swims.

Lane Swim

The main pool is open for swimmers of any age to swim lengths. 

Public Swim

Come enjoy time in the pool.  All the pools are open.  A lane will be designated for those wanting to swim lengths. The slide is open on Saturday and Sunday from 1:30 - 2:30pm.

No registration required for Public Swim. 

Adult Leisure Main Pool Swim

Adults can come to enjoy 'unstructured' swimming in the main pool. There will be one or two lanes available for those wishing to swim lengths. 

Whirlpool

The whirlpool is available during these times:

  • Monday:  6:30-9:00am, 11:00-2:15pm, 8:00-9:30pm
  • Tuesday:  6:30-8:45am, 11:30-1:00, 8:45-9:30pm
  • Wednesday:  6:30-9:00am, 11:00-2:15pm, 8:00-9:30pm
  • Thursday:  6:30-9:00am, 11:00-1:00pm, 8:45-9:30pm
  • Friday:  6:30-9:00am, 11:00-1:00pm
  • Saturday/Sunday:  12:00-3:00pm


The whirlpool will be available after Aquafit classes for 15 minutes.

We are once again offering private pool rentals.

 

The Rotary Aquatic Centre features a 25-metre lane pool, a warm leisure pool and a whirlpool. The Aquatic Centre can be rented for family gatherings, birthday parties, swim meets and other special events. Family gatherings are typically booked on Saturday afternoons.  Please call 519-846-9691 ext. 321 if you would like more information on renting the Aquatic Centre for your next special occasion. 

Ways To Register

You can register for leisure programs within the Township of Centre Wellington by one of the following convenient ways:

  1. In person at the Centre Wellington Sportsplex located at 550 Belsyde Avenue in Fergus
  2. Register Online (see further instructions below)
  3. By mail.  Make your cheque payable to: Township of Centre Wellington 1 MacDonald Square, Elora, ON  N0B 1S0

Online Registration

You can register for activities, purchase/renew memberships, look up past courses as well as print receipts from your online account, register online now.

Classes with low enrolment will be cancelled approximately 1 week before programs start. Register early to avoid having the program you want cancelled. 

If You Have an Account

If you have an account already, simply select login, input your email address and click on forget password.  A temporary password will be sent to the email address you provided. You will then be prompted to create a permanent password.

If You Do Not Have an Account

If you DO NOT have an account, select create an account. Follow the prompts to create an account. Do not create an account if you have filled out a Registration Information Form or recently given your information to a Customer Service Representative.

  1. A full refund will be issued for all courses cancelled by the Township
  2. Request for refunds must be received 1 week prior to program start date
  3. No refunds will be issued within 1 week of the program start date
  4. Transfers will be accepted prior to the 3rd class.  No transfers will take place beyond the 3rd class.
  5. A $20 administration fee will be applied to refunds requested 
  6. A $35 fee will be applied to NSF cheques and credit card payments 

The Township of Centre Wellington proudly offers the Lifesaving Society Swim for Life swim program.  While program names have changed, our commitment to providing quality programs remains the same. Registration for Spring 2024 swimming lessons will begin Wednesday March 6, 2024 at 8:30am. The spring swimming lesson schedule can be viewed here

Registration for Summer 2024 swimming lessons will begin Wednesday May 8, 2024 at 8:30am. The summer swimming lesson schedule will be available to view very soon.
