Centre Wellington Launches New Inclusive Community Program to Celebrate Local Diversity

CENTRE WELLINGTON The Township of Centre Wellington is proud to announce the launch of its new Inclusive Community Program, a streamlined initiative designed to provide a consistent, fair, and accessible pathway for local community organizations to request public recognition.

This program offers a unified application process for eligible groups seeking to honour cultural recognition, awareness campaigns, accessibility, reconciliation, equity-deserving communities, human rights, anti-discrimination, and/or overall community wellbeing. Approved applicants will have the opportunity to showcase their causes through various Township-supported channels, including:

  • Community Flag Displays
  • Township Illumination (lighting up public spaces)
  • Digital Public Displays
  • The Community Recognition Calendar

The application window for recognition initiatives for the 2027 calendar year is open from July 15, 2026, through October 25, 2026. Local community organizations and groups are encouraged to review the program criteria early and prepare their submissions. After an application is submitted, Township staff will review the request based on scheduling availability, operational requirements, and public suitability before confirming the details.

Community Investment Fund

In tandem with building a more connected community, the Township is also preparing for the upcoming launch of its Community Investment Fund, which will opens  July 15 for events/initiatives taking place in 2027.

These two programs are designed to work hand-in-hand to support local grassroots initiatives. While the Inclusive Community Program provides the public platforms, visibility, and awareness for vital cultural and equity-focused milestones, the Community Investment Fund can offer the financial backing needed to bring community celebrations, workshops and events to life.

By utilizing both programs, local organizations and groups can secure both the funding and public recognition necessary to maximize the impact of their community-led initiatives.
