Centre Wellington’s Overnight Winter Parking Ban in Effect November 1
CENTRE WELLINGTON – The Township would like to remind residents of the overnight parking restrictions, which come into effect on Sunday, November 1, 2026, and remain in place until March 31, 2027. There is no parking on all public roadways between the hours of 2:00 AM and 6:00 AM.
The parking restrictions ensure the safe, effective, and efficient removal of snow on local roads, making Township streets safer and more accessible. Downtown residents who don’t have access to overnight parking can park in the following Municipal Parking Lots overnight, but parking is limited to 24 hours:
- 25 Metcalfe St, Elora (Beside the Elora LCBO)
- Menzie’s Lane, between the Fergus Public Library and the Grand River, Fergus
- 160 Provost Lane, Fergus
Overnight parking between 2:00 AM and 6:00 AM is prohibited in all other Municipal Parking Lots as indicated by posted signage. Vehicles parked in the above-mentioned lots are still subject to all rules and regulations, including not being parked in excess of 24 consecutive hours. During scheduled snow-clearing operations, parking may be prohibited at Menzie’s Lane, 160 Provost Lane and 25 Metcalfe St. When restrictions are in effect, advance signage will be posted.
Vehicles are permitted to be parked on the paved portion of the lower driveway boulevard, provided the vehicles comply with certain conditions. Vehicles not parked in accordance with the following conditions are subject to tickets and/or towing. When you park on the lower driveway boulevard, you must follow these regulations:
- Vehicles must be on the paved, driveway portion of the driveway boulevard, not the landscaped (or hardscaped) portion of the lower driveway boulevard;
- Vehicles may not access the paved portion of the lower driveway boulevard by driving over the landscaped or hardscaped portions of the lower driveway boulevard;
- All of the vehicle’s tires must be on the paved, hard surface of the lower driveway boulevard;
- There can be no overhang of any part of the vehicle over the sidewalk, curb or road.
When you cannot park on the Lower Driveway Boulevard:
- If your driveway is connected to your neighbour’s driveway, do not park your vehicle in a way that crosses the property line or hinders access to the neighbour’s driveway;
- Do not park on the lower driveway boulevard if your driveway is within 9.0 metres of an intersection. This helps to ensure drivers are able to see oncoming traffic, pedestrians and other road users when moving through the intersection.
