Township acquires land near Belwood ball diamond

CENTRE WELLINGTON – The Township has acquired land surrounding the Belwood ball diamond, municipally known as 509 Fifth St. S. Pvt., Belwood, from the Grand River Conservation Authority (GRCA).

The acquisition establishes clear property boundaries around the ball diamond and provides the Township with flexibility to consider potential future trail connections in the area.

There is no decision at this time regarding the future use of the property.  Any plans for this site will be considered carefully through future budget processes and Council-approved plans such as the Active Transportation and Mobility Plan and the Parks & Recreation Plan. 

The land was acquired in its current condition for a nominal purchase price of $2.  More information on legal and other costs associated with the land purchase is outlined in the detailed council report, which can be found here.   

The Township will share further information with the community if future plans for the property are considered.
