Township advances work on paid parking and parking enforcement

CENTRE WELLINGTON – The Township is moving away from its current parking enforcement provider towards a renewed paid parking program and a future in-house parking enforcement service.

We recognize the frustration that residents, businesses, and visitors have experienced as a result of the lack of paid parking and consistent enforcement during this busy tourism season.  Township staff are actively working on paid parking options that will support an effective, consistent, and well-managed in-house service. This work includes considering the appropriate controls, processes, technology, enforcement approach, and customer service supports needed to deliver a paid parking program.  Any future decisions related to the paid parking program will be brought to Council for consideration.

Staff are actively taking the necessary steps required to bring all parking enforcement services in-house. Moving from an external service to a Township-delivered model requires careful preparation, including establishing procedures, staffing, training, and equipment.

Further information will be shared as staff finalize the strategy. We appreciate the community’s patience and understanding.
