Township Seeks Community Leaders for New Economic Development and Tourism Board

CENTRE WELLINGTON – The Township is inviting applications from community members interested in serving on the Board of Directors for its newly established Municipal Services Corporation, focused on economic development and tourism.

The Centre Wellington Economic Development and Tourism Municipal Services Corporation (EDTMSC) is a Township-owned, non-profit organization created to deliver economic development and tourism services in a focused, accountable, and strategic way, while maintaining full public oversight by Township Council.

The Township is seeking five community members to serve as voting directors on the EDTMSC Board. Appointments will be made using a skills-based approach, to ensure a diverse range of experience and expertise to help guide the organization’s work.

The EDTMSC is a separate legal entity, wholly owned by the Township of Centre Wellington. While it operates independently, it is accountable to Council through a governance framework that supports strong public transparency and alignment with Council’s strategic priorities.

The Board of Directors will include:

  • The Mayor and one member of Council (voting members)
  • Five community members (voting members)
  • The Township’s Chief Administrative Officer and Treasurer (non-voting members)

The Board will provide strategic direction and oversight, while day-to-day operations will be managed by EDTMSC staff, including an Executive Director.

Governance of the Corporation is established through a Sole Member’s Declaration approved by Council, which sets out financial controls, reporting requirements, and decision-making authority.

Applications are open until May 6th. Interested individuals are encouraged to learn more and apply online at: www.centrewellington.ca/MSC
