The safety of children in and around schools is a top priority for the Township of Centre Wellington - and is a shared responsibility. Throughout the school year, traffic increases during school drop-off and pick-up times, and improper or illegal parking can create serious safety hazards for students, staff, and other road users.
Below is a list of common parking violations and general parking guidelines to help ensure school zones remain safe for students, staff, families, and nearby residents.
Parking Enforcement: Municipal Law Enforcement Officers will periodically conduct parking enforcement during the school year and going forward. Please ensure you comply with the parking requirements as indicated by signage.

Stopping is NOT allowed at any time during posted hours - even for drop-off/pick-up.
Do not stop your vehicle, even for a few seconds.
Do not let anyone in or out of the car.
Keep moving with traffic at all times.

These signs are posted to alert drivers that parking is prohibited. A driver is in violation of this parking regulation if they have stopped the vehicle but the engine is running, hazard lights are flashing, or there is someone in the car.
You may stop briefly to drop off or pick someone up - no delays.
Do not wait for your child in the car.
Do not exit your vehicle, even briefly.

Fire Routes are driveways, laneways, or roads that must stay clear for emergency vehicles.
You cannot stop or park here - even with the engine running or hazard lights on.
You may stop briefly to drop off or pick up someone, but you must drive away immediately.
You cannot wait in your vehicle, even for a short time.
You cannot leave your vehicle unattended for any reason.

Accessible Parking Space Signage
These spaces are reserved only for vehicles with a valid Accessible Parking Permit.
The permit must be clearly displayed and used by the person to whom it was issued.
No stopping or parking without a valid permit.

School bus zones are reserved only for school buses picking up or dropping off people within the defined areas.
You cannot stop or park any other vehicles in a school bus loading zone.

In addition to the most common parking violations listed above, drivers should ensure that they are not stopped or parked so as to block a fire hydrant, intersection, bus stop, private driveway or sidewalk.
