The Sportsplex Weight Room will gradually start to re-open on Monday, October 19th. Due to COVID-19, our facility will look and operate much differently than before. Certain rules and protocols have been put into place to ensure our members, staff and visitors remain safe and healthy. For more information on the Weight Room re-opening click here. Weight Room memberships will remain on hold unless otherwise specified by the member.  For members on a monthly payment plan, payments will continue to be withdrawn on the regular payment date.  Members wishing to stop payments, or members who paid for a full membership and would like a pro-rated refund, please contact staff to process the refund.

Although our aquatics facility is open, there are many guidelines and safety measures that have been put in place to ensure the safety and well-being of your family and our residents.  Click here to review the Township's Guidelines for pool users during COVID-19.  Swimming and Aquafit memberships have been extended.

Fitness classes have returned to the CW Community Sportsplex  with a reduced schedule. Fitness memberships will remain on hold until a full schedule of classes are offered. Mossa Fitness Classes will be held at the Elora Community Centre Monday, October 26 until after the 8:00 am class on November 9.

The Victoria Park Seniors Centre will re-open on Monday, October 26, 2020.

CW Community Sportsplex Address and Hours of Operation

The Centre Wellington Community Sportsplex is a community hub that encompasses two arena floors, one large community hall (with the ability to divide in half), weight room, fitness room,  two boardrooms, a mezzanine area and an Aquatic Centre. The facility offers free WI-FI.

The Centre Wellington Community Sportsplex is located at 550 Belsyde Avenue, Fergus.

Office hours are as follows:

Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Saturday & Sunday from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

The Centre Wellington Community Sportsplex will be closed on Sunday October 11 and Monday October 12 to recognize thanksgiving.

Aquatic Centre User Guide during COVID-19

The Rotary Aquatic Centre at the Centre Wellington Community Sportsplex, offers a variety of programs.  The Aquatic Centre opened August 4.  

Important Notes for Aquatic Programs:  In order to serve you better, participants are required to pre-register for all swims either online or by calling 519 846-9691 ext.903 

  • Registration will open one week prior to the date of the swim
  • Spaces are first come, first served
  • Pool capacities have been reduced to ensure physical distancing
  • The slide and the whirlpool are not open
  • For recreational swims, we encourage you to bring your own equipment
  • For aquafit classes, we will provide the aquafit belts or you can bring your own  

What to expect when you arrive:

  • Please wear face mask when entering the facility.  Masks must be worn in all spaces except for in the pool 
  • Patrons are required to check in with reception staff 
  • Please arrive 5-10 minutes before your scheduled program
  • Change rooms are available
  • Please shower prior to your swim
  • Lockers are not available.  Please bring your belongings onto the pool deck (bins are provided)
  • Please follow distance markings on the pool deck
  • Swimmers are reminded to keep 2 metres away from other swimmers
  • Bathrooms are available for use
  • At the conclusion of your program leave through the change rooms. Showers are not to be used after swimming.
  • Hand sanitizer will be provided at the entrance/exit of the facility 

 Amenities

 The Aquatic Centre offers:

  • A 25-metre lane pool with six swimming lanes. The temperature is regulated at approximately 82 degrees.

  • The leisure pool with a water slide, water jet sprays and water umbrella for children doubles for therapy and rehabilitation classes. The temperature is regulated at approximately 92 degrees.

  • A whirlpool with seating for twelve people is available during lane swims, adult leisure, public, family swims as well as after aquafit classes. The temperature is regulated at approximately 100 degrees.

  • Viewing gallery adjacent to the leisure pool.

  • A family change room.

 General Aquafit:  Shallow and Deep at 9 a.m. and 10 a.m. Monday to Friday, Tuesday at 8 p.m.

 

Arthritis Aquafit: 

Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday at 9:10 a.m.,

Monday, Thursday at 10:10 a.m.

Monday, Wednesday, Friday at 1:00 p.m.

 

Rehabilitation Aquafit:  Wednesday and Friday at 10:10 a.m. 

 

Movement Enhancement Aquafit:  Tuesday's at 9:10 a.m. and 10:10 a.m.

 Swimming Lessons

The Township of Centre Wellington offers a variety of swimming lessons for swimmers of all ages and abilities, from introductory classes to Lifeguard and Instructor training.

 

Participants in Preschool levels up to level 4 are required to have a parent or caregiver (14 years and older) in the water with them for physical contact and safety purposes

 

Our Second Fall session will begin on October 31. Registration is ongoing.         

  • Swim lessons will run once a week for 9 weeks. 
  • Group lessons are available all swimming levels
    • Pre school levels Starfish - Whale: (class size maximum is limited to 3 swimmers and 3 guardians)
    • Swim Kids levels 1-4: (class size is limited to 4 swimmers and 4 guardians)
    • Swim Kids levels 5 - 10: (class size is limited to 4 swimmers)
  • Private lessons (or lessons to a family "bubble") are available for all levels. 
  • Registration is available online for group lessons.  Private lessons will need to be booked in person or on the phone.  
  • All lessons will be taught at a distance by qualified instructors to allow participants and staff to maintain a physical distance from others
  • Participants in Preschool levels up to level 4 are required to have a parent or caregiver (14 years and older) in the water with them for physical contact and safety purposes
  • Limited equipment will be used and will be sanitized between each use

 Admission Policy
Children Under the Age of Ten
  • Must be accompanied in the water by a caregiver who is 12 years of age or older and responsible for their direct supervision
  • A caregiver may provide direct supervision for up to a maximum of two children.

Children Aged Six to Nine
  • May swim unaccompanied providing they pass the swim test
  • A caregiver must be present for the swim test and as long as they are in the pool area
  • A caregiver may provide direct supervision for up to a maximum of four children
  • Life jackets must be worn by all non-swimmers

Swim Test Criteria
  • Tread water for 20 seconds
  • Front swim 10 metres
  • Tread water for 20 second
  • Front swim for 15 metres
  • Must make an attempt at an over arm recovery (or front crawl) with a near body flat in the water

Swim Test Cards
  • If you successfully complete the swim test, you will receive "Swim Test Card"
  • Present this card when you come to the pool and you will be given a green wristband without having to re-take the swim test
  • If you forget the "Swim Test Card', you will be required to complete the swim test again

You must be able to always complete the swim test. If your skills regress and you are unable to complete the swim test in the future your card will be revoked.

The pool is not currently available for pool rentals (October 2020)

The Rotary Aquatic Centre features a 25-metre lane pool, a warm leisure pool and a whirlpool. The Aquatic Centre can be rented for family gatherings, birthday parties, swim meets and other special events. CW Community Sportsplex Services

Concession Services
The concessions at the Elora Community Centre and the Centre Wellington Community Sportsplex are not currently operating (October 2020)
The Elora Community Centre and the Centre Wellington Community Sportsplex offer a variety of food and beverage options, including healthy alternatives. We serve Reunion Island coffee and Bigelow tea products. Hours of operation are dependent on activities within the facility. Current hours are listed at each concession location.
 Day Camps

The Township of Centre Wellington offers Day Camps annually during the March Break and throughout the summer at the Centre Wellington Community Sportsplex. These camps are geared to youth ages 5 – 12. Camp programs are not running during the 2020 calendar year.

 

Our March Break camp runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m each day and includes activities such as skating, swim lessons, arts and crafts, active games, and of course making new friends. The cost for March Break  camp is $185.65 per week or $38.70 per day.                                   

Our Summer camp runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day and includes activities such as swim lessons, arts and crafts, active games and sports. The cost for the Summer Camp is $185.65 for a five day week or $149.70 for four day weeks. 

 

Our ratio of staff to campers is 1:8.  All staff have First Aid, CPR and have attended leadership training.

Weight Room, Fitness Classes & 14-day Free Trial of MOSSA Move

Centre Wellington, Parks & Recreation Department has started to bring back modified fitness programs to ensure participants and staff remain safe and healthy during the COVID-19 pandemic. All of our programs that have returned, follow or exceed the regulations set by the Province and Public Health Unit.

 

The Sportsplex weight room gradually started to re-open on Monday, October 19. Limited time slots are available during the first phase of re-opening and are subject to change as we assess demand. Pre-Registration is required to ensure physical distancing can be maintained. More information on what to expect in the weight room can be found here.

Mossa Fitness Classes

Pre-registered weekly fitness classes are available at the Sportsplex. For more information on how we have modified Mossa fitness classes and to view the current schedule click here. Stayed tuned for more information on when additional classes will be added to the schedule.

Fitness classes will be held in the Elora Community Centre Hall from October 26 to November 9 at 9:00 am (the 5:00 pm class on November 9 will be back at the Sportsplex). Ride classes have been cancelled for the above two weeks and the Monday and Wednesday classes in Elora will be held at 4:30 pm instead of 5:00 pm.

 

Fitness Membership $54.60 (HST Inc) per month.  Includes all classes except for spin.

Pickleball 

Pickleball programs are not currently running. This site will be updated when we are able to get them started (October 2020)

 

Come out and try pickleball at the CW Sportsplex.  Pickleball runs Monday to Friday from 9-11am, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 1-3pm, as well as Wednesday evenings from 7-9:30pm.  

The cost is $3.00 per visit or $25.75 for a book of ten passes.

 

Pickleball players are welcome to use the tennis courts at the CW Sportsplex for singles play only (doubles play if members within same family) during public hours free of charge.  Please do not mark the courts.

Wednesday:  8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Seniors Programming at the CW Community Sportsplex

Senior Fitness Classes at the CW Community Sportsplex began on Monday, September 28.

  • We have made changes to how we will run fitness classes to ensure participants are safe and physically distanced.   • Please note, participants must be present 10 minutes before class start time. Please bring your own yoga mat, water bottle and indoor shoes. All other equipment provided, however, you are welcome to bring your own hand weights.

Skating and Shinny

Skating programs for the 2020 season in both Elora and Fergus are being delayed. This site will be updated when we have programs scheduled. (October 2020).

Our Adult Shinny, Ringette Shinny, and Monday Ladies Shinny games are listed on an online platform called “PickupHub”. The PickupHub software allows you to view games and reserve your spot in advance and see who else has signed up for the game.  All of the uncertainty associated with traditional drop-in sports is removed because you can see how many players are needed for the game to run, and who has already signed up! Goalies play free of charge.

Public Skating Sponsorship Opportunities

Skating programs for the 2020 season in both Elora and Fergus are being delayed. This site will be updated when we have programs scheduled. (October 2020).

The Township of Centre Wellington is offering FREE PUBLIC SKATING at the Elora Community Centre and the CW Sportsplex for the 2020/2021 season.  Tennis

The Tennis Courts at the Sportsplex are open!

Two tennis courts are located at the Centre Wellington Community Sportsplex at 550 Belsyde Avenue, Fergus. These courts are available for public use and for use by members of the Fergus Tennis Club.  Access to courts for members is controlled through keyed access. Please observe 1-hour time of play if others are waiting to use the courts.

The tennis courts at the Sportsplex opened Friday May 22, 2020.  These courts are free of charge for the 2020 season.

 

Public Access

Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday: 8:30 a.m. – 8 p.m.

Wednesday: 8:30 a.m. - 7 p.m.

Saturday:  11:30 a.m. - 8 p.m.

Sunday:  11:30 a.m. - 6 p.m.

Members Access

Courts open daily from 7 a.m. – 11 p.m. by key code access. 

 

Please abide by the following tennis court rules during COVID-19:
  • Practice physical distancing; stay 2 metres away from others.  Handshakes, high -fives and fist bumps are not permitted
  • Bring your own uniquely marked balls.  Only pick up balls by hand that are assigned to you. When returning balls, use your racquet or feet - never your hands
  • Doubles play allowed as long as physical distancing is adhered to, no gathering in large numbers
  • Wait outside the fenced area while waiting for your court
  • Sportsplex tennis courts are free to use on a first come first serve during public hours.  If others are waiting for a court, playing time is limited to one hour
  • Avoid changing ends
  • Failure to comply with these rules, social distancing requirements, or improper use of the courts, may result in the closure of the tennis courts
  • Please self-regulate and follow the rules

 

  Tennis court recommendations during COVID-19:
  • Cough or sneeze into a tissue or your elbow, immediately dispose of tissue and then use hand sanitizer
  • Bring your own hand sanitizer and use it before, after and during tennis court usage
  • Bring your own water
  • The Sportsplex washrooms and water fountains are closed 
  • Refrain from touching your face, benches, nets and posts
  • Refrain from sharing racquets, water bottles and other personal items 
  • Sanitize equipment, the bottom of your court shoes (prior to entering home), and wash your hands after using the tennis courts

Boardrooms A and B have a capacity of 15 in each room.  Free Wi-Fi. These rooms are currently not available for rentals. (October 2020)

Located at the CW Community Sportsplex, the campground features:

The Centre Wellington Community Sportsplex includes 2 ice surfaces.  Pad A measuring 85 x 200' with seating capacity for 1200 people; and Pad B measuring 85 x 190' with seating for 250 people.

 Mezzanine
The Mezzanine has a capacity of 75 and includes kitchen facilities (stove, fridge and sink) along with a view of Ice Pad A.  There is no air-conditioning. This room is currently not available for rentals. (October 2020)

This air-conditioned hall is an ideal location for wedding receptions, dances and other special events and can be divided into two separate halls known as the Gord Brown Hall and the Unity Hall.

  • Capacity of 500 (400 seated, 450 chairs only)
  • Commercial kitchen (dishes, cutlery, pots and coffee maker available – no glassware)
  • Rectangle (8' x 3') and round (5') tables are available
  • Microphone, screen, podium

 

Once divided, the Sportsplex Hall becomes 2 rooms called Gord Brown Hall and Unity Hall

  • Half Hall 55’ x 65’ = 3575 sq. ft.
  • Capacity of 220
  • 175 seated, 200 chairs only
  • The Community hall is a non-smoking facility
  • The hall is air-conditioned
  • The commercial kitchen - dishes, cutlery, pots and coffee maker are available. There is no glassware.

The Township has adopted the Rzone - Respect and Responsibility policy.  The Rzone is an operating procedure that identifies a code of conduct which applies to all Township of Centre Wellington recreation and cultural centres, facilities, parks and programs.  The Rzone procedure enforces a set of expectations around violence, vandalism and inappropriate behaviours for participants and the general public.  To learn more, view the Rzone brochure.
