Indoor Recreation

 

 Pickleball

Indoor Pickleball is offered at the CW Sportsplex and the Elora Community Centre! Pre-Registration is required through pickuphub.net. Registration opens 7 days before the activity date. a minimum of 4 players are required to sign up or the game will be cancelled and players will be notified via text or email. More information and the schedule can be found here. Four (4) courts will be offered at the Sportsplex when both halls are available Two (2) Courts will be available when one hall is available. 

Majority of the Pickleball court times will be 1 hour and 15 minutes. 15 minutes have been allocated as a buffer between court times. Please do not arrive more than 15 minutes early for your court time. Do not start games during the buffer time. ½ hall has 2 courts and the full hall has 4 courts. Hall use pending availability. Gord Brown Hall (stage side) Unity Hall (Front hall) – 10 players/half hall court time, 20 players/full hall court time.  

Intermediate Skills and Drills Tuesday’s at 6:00 pm – 8 players/half hall court time 16 players/full hall court time- This time slot is instruction-based for those who know how to play and want to get better.  Aimed at intermediate level players, drills can be adjusted for higher or lower skill levels.  Please leave a comment if you have a specific skill you’d like to work on.  Instructors: Jim & Nick

Beginner Lessons Thursday’s at 6:00 pm - Due to lack of Hall availability Beginner lessons are not available on Thursdays for the month of April. 8 players/half hall court time 16 players/full hall court time - This time slot is instruction-based for beginner and novice level players.  We offer introduction lessons to newcomers, and drills and practice for novices.  Instructors: Heidi & Jim

Advanced Drills & Skills Thursday’s at 6:30 am 

Beginner

  • Players should be new to the sport, and wanting to learn in a fun environment. Instructors are there to provide guidance as needed with rules, etiquette, and game play.

Novice

  • Players know the basic rules of how to play the game, and are working on more consistent play.

Intermediate

  • Players should be skilled in most aspects of the game and have a good understanding of the rules.

Advanced/competitive

  • Players are able to demonstrate strategy, are working on more consistent control, and ball placement, allowing less unforced errors.

Recreational

  • All skill levels are welcome. This pickleball court time provides a fun welcoming environment to play in a relaxed non-competitive atmosphere. It is ideal when attending the Recreational time to know the basics of how to play pickleball.

Family

  • This program is for multigenerational/family play. All skill levels are welcome. Participants under 14 years of age must be accompanied by an adult. Limit this to 4 per court

The outdoor tennis courts at the CW Sportsplex will open on April 13, 2023. Pickleball court lines have been painted on the tennis courts. Pickleball players are welcome to use the Sportsplex Courts during public hours free of charge on a first come first serve basis. During busier times when others are waiting please limit play to one match per pair.

Fitness Classes 

Cardio Kick-Fit - Wednesday's at 6:00 pm This cardio kickboxing class is a fantastic way to kick up your workout routine. This non-choreographed class is a fun way to torch calories. Good for all skill levels, you'll find that punching and kicking is a great way to work the whole body, relieve stress, build confidence, and increase balance and coordination. 

 

Circuit Fitness -Tuesday's at 7:00 am Takes place in our Weight room. Utilizes strength and cardio movements moving though different stations. Adjustments will be made to suit all fitness levels.

 

Spin with Wendy Armstrong- New session starts March 21, 2023 for 11 weeks. This class will challenge your cardio system, improve stamina and increase lower body strength. 

 

Cost & Memberships

You must pre-register for all fitness classes.  Click here to pre-register. Individual classes are $8.70/class for an adult, $7.85/class for student/senior.  10 passes are $73.95 for adult, $66.75 for student/senior. 

Fitness Membership $57.85 (HST Inc) per month for adult, $48.45 for student/senior.

 Weight Room - Open

The Weight Room is open!  Members will have access cards allowing them into the facility from 6:00 am to 10:00 pm daily.  To access the weight room for a drop in visit, pay at the reception desk and the weight room door will be opened for you. You will need to come during office hours.  Weight room amenities and membership rates can be found here. 

 

If you sign up or renew a weight room membership online, please stop by the reception desk or give us a call during office hours 519 846-9691 ext. 903 option 0 to pick up your weight room card or to have your card updated.  

Skating

Stick & Puck - CSA approved helmets are required for all participants. Full equipment is recommended.

Stick and puck is a self-taught program in a relaxed atmosphere to help develop hockey (or Ringette) skills at your own pace, in a comfortable setting.  Work on stick handling, shooting and skating skills. No scrimmages/games, slap shots or body contact allowed. Participants are encouraged to bring their own pucks. 

 

Family Stick & Puck – Families with children under 12 years of age and parents/caregivers. One parent/guardian is required to stay onsite and provide supervision from the designated viewing area for children who are 12 years and under. A parent/guardian must be on the ice with their tot (under 6) at all times. CSA approved helmets are required for all participants. Full equipment is recommended.

 

Senior/Adult Stick & Puck – Adults 18+ CSA approved helmets are required for all participants. Full equipment is recommended.

 

Youth Stick & Puck - CW Sportsplex Wednesday's and Friday's at 3:30 The perfect time for youth aged 10-17 years old to work on stick handling, shooting and skating skills. No scrimmages/games, slap shots or body contact allowed. Participants are encouraged to bring their own pucks. Please pay at the Front desk to receive a skate band before going on the ice. CSA approved helmets are required for all participants. Full equipment is recommended.

 

Adult/Senior Skate 

The perfect time to skate if you’re over the age of 18. Skate at your leisure to some background music from the 60’s, 70’s, 80’s and 90’s. No pucks or sticks allowed. CSA approved helmets are highly recommended for all participants.

 

Family Skating 

This skate is designed for families with children under the age of 12 to skate in a quiet, relaxed atmosphere. This skating time is ideal for children and those needing a controlled and comfortable place to work on skating skills and enjoy time with family. One parent/caregiver is required to stay onsite and provide supervision from the designated viewing area for children who are 12 years and under. A parent/guardian must be on the ice with their tot (under 6) at all times. CSA approved helmets are highly recommended for all participants.

Public Skating has ended for the season. We hope to bring back the Public Skating Sponsorship Program in September 2023. Thank you to our 2022/2023 Public Skating Sponsors.  A list of sponsors and dates can be found here from this past season.

 Shinny Hockey 

 Registration is required through www.pickuphub.net registration opens 7 days before the game. Games will be cancelled 90 minutes before the start of the game if the minimum number of participants (12) has not been reached. 

60+ Shinny continues until April 23, 2023- CW Sportsplex on Monday, Wednesday, Friday at 10:00 am 

Leadership in Training Program (LIT)

Our volunteer LIT program is a great way for youth aged 13-15 to gain skills and experience to help prepare youth for a job as a leader in the future. This program is also a great way for youth to earn volunteer hours for school.

LIT's will have the following duties and responsibilities:

a)   Assist with instruction and supervision of children.

b)   Assist with preparation and implementation of activities and events.

c)   Assist with ongoing cleaning and tidying of facilities.

d)   Attend staff meetings and/or training sessions as required.

e)  Perform and act as a member of the staff.

f)   Be willing to learn and participate in the program.

g)  Be mature, friendly, enthusiastic, helpful and courteous with children and public.

General Day Camp information:

Our camp is geared to youth ages 5-12. The camp hours are 9:00am to 4:00pm. Campers can be dropped off as early as 8:00am and must be picked up by 5:00pm. Camp activities include active games, skating (March Break only), scavenger hunts, obstacle courses, arts & crafts, sports such as pickleball, soccer, basketball, tennis etc. plenty of outdoor play, talent shows, water activities and more!

The ratio of staff to campers is 1:8.  All staff have First Aid, CPR and have completed leadership training. The cost for the camp is $207.10 for the five day weeks or $165.70 for the four day weeks.

Program Registration
You can register for leisure programs within the Township of Centre Wellington, by one of the following convenient ways:
  1. In person at the Centre Wellington Sportsplex located at 550 Belsyde Avenue in Fergus
  2. Register Online (see further instructions below)
  3. By mail.  Make your cheque payable to: Township of Centre Wellington PO Box 58, Elora, ON  N0B 1S0

If you have an account already, simply select login, input your email address and click on forget password.  A temporary password will be sent to the email address you provided. You will then be prompted to create a permanent password.

If you DO NOT have an account, select create an account. Follow the prompts to create an account. Do not create an account if you have filled out a Registration Information Form or recently given your information to a Customer Service Representative.

You can register for activities, purchase/renew memberships, look up past courses as well as print receipts from your online account, register online now.

Classes with low enrolment will be cancelled approximately 1 week before programs start.  Register early to avoid having the program you want cancelled. 

 

Refunds:

  1. A full refund will be issued for all courses cancelled by the Township
  2. Request for refunds must be received 1 week prior to program start date
  3. No refunds will be issued within 1 week of the program start date
  4. Transfers will be accepted prior to 3rd class.  No transfers will take place beyond the 3rd class
  5. A $20 administration fee will be applied to refunds requested
  6. A $35 fee will be applied to NSF cheques and credit card payments
